Spend Small Business Saturday at Fa-La-La Fatherland in East Nashville

We’re not going to try to tell you how to do your holiday shopping, but if we have a vote, it’s overwhelmingly for Small Business Saturday over Black Friday. The former gives you a chance to support local entrepreneurs in our locals-supporting neighborhood, the latter might stick you in a tent in a suburban parking lot for the opportunity to get trampled over a discount flat screen. Nope.
Related, one of our favorite annual East Nashville Small Business Saturday opportunities: Fa-La-La Fatherland, hosted by the varied businesses in the Shoppes on Fatherland.
This year’s event — Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — is the third annual, and participating Shoppes will have snacks, drinks and holiday merriment, and at the end of the day, they’ll be giving away a prize basket full of locally chosen goodies, so you might get a gift of your own after shopping for other folks.
If you’re new to the area, or haven’t spent much time over at the Shoppes on Fatherland, this is great encouragement to get over there — the cool and eclectic shopping hub has small businesses making and selling everything from chocolate and cakes to clothing and pet accessories.
Spending your day at Fa-La-La Fatherland could knock out the larger part of your gift list before December even gets here.
To give you a sense of how broad your options are, here’s the list of participating Fa-La-La Fatherland shops, and what they offer. Click the names to go to their website.
