Holly Street Rocks! at The Pavilion East in 2016

 

The venue for this year’s Holly Street Daycare annual fundraiser, Holly Street Rocks!, has changed, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to travel very far to find it.

Ending its five-year run at The Building after the 5 Points venue closed last year, the 13th Holly Street Rocks! will be just a few blocks down the road at The Pavilion East this year and it is set to feature beer and wine tastings as well as a live auction all for a good cause. The fundraiser benefits “Jamie’s Fund,” which helps provide financial aid to at-need families. Event Chair Courtney Westbrook says she’s looking forward to this year’s event and the new venue.

“Last year was a stellar year and it was a great way to end our run at The Building, which we all have a special place in our hearts for, but we’re very excited about The Pavilion,” Westbrook says. “This is a really great fundraiser for a great cause to help families who may have fallen on hard times. Child care is not cheap and to not have to worry about it whenever something happens is really just priceless.”

Every year, the volunteer-run event raises nearly $30,000, which helps offset tuition costs for families facing financial setbacks.    

“It’s set up to help Holly Street’s family when they’ve fallen on hard times,” Westbrook says. “We’ve had families who’ve lost a job, who were affected in the flood a few years ago, families who have had medical issues, but if something happens the fund is set up so that child can remain at Holly Street.”

Holly Street Rocks! drew more than 120 people last year and Westbrook is expecting a great turnout for this year’s event at The Pavilion, which takes place Saturday, Sept. 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. Along with food and drinks, attendees can look forward to live and silent auctions, which include gift certificates, a vacation to Seagrove, FL, an at-home wine tasting hosted by Woodland Wine Merchant and other goodies.

Cash prizes up to $500 will be raffled off throughout the night for $5 per raffle ticket. Those tickets can be purchased during the event or online at www.hollystreet.org. And if you can’t make it out to the event, Westbrook says donations to Jamie’s Fund can still be made online as well.   

Along with wine tastings by Midtown Corkdorks (formerly Midtown Wine & Spirits), Mickey’s Tavern will be hosting a whiskey tasting at the event. Craft beer as well as food from Alexander’s catering and East Nashville’s Wild Cow will also be served up during the event, which takes place Saturday, .
