Mad Donna’s closes unexpectedly
Suddenly and unexpectedly, Mad Donna’s announced it was closing its doors this week. Known for its drag queen bingo nights and drink specials, the East Side restaurant and entertainment space posted about the closure on its Facebook page on Thursday.
But the closure appears to be temporary as Mad Donna’s hinted at a “new project” coming soon.
“Thank you all. The recent outpouring of support from the community has been amazing! The owners would like to extend their sincere appreciation to you all for the last 9 years and are excited to announce exciting details for a new project soon,” the Facebook post reads.
Noble Nashville reported that the restaurant was closing for renovations and would reopen in two weeks.
On Wednesday, crews could be seen repainting the outside of the restaurant and working on the inside.
Porter Flea bringing handmade holiday cheer To East Nashville
More than 100 artisans, makers and artists will fill Skyway Studios in East Nashville this weekend for Porter Flea’s Holiday Market. From jewelers to woodworkers, this year’s market will have a lil something for everyone. Stop by on Friday, Dec. 9 from 6-9 p.m. for their preview market or Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jinglewood all the way to Inglewood
Speaking of holiday cheer, there’s plenty more to spread around this month. Stop by Inglewood’s Hey Rooster General Store, High Class Hillbilly and newcomer women’s and men’s fashion shop Steluta on Dec. 17 for Jinglewood. The festive and fun-filled day of shopping was conceived and organized by Steluta owner Jessica Bower, sponsored by Cathead Vodka and will include one-day-only perks and deals.

Stumble on over for an art crawl
The East Side Art Stumble returns this month on Saturday, Dec. 10. A variety of local art will be on display at several different East Nashville venues including The Red Arrow Gallery, The Green Gallery at Turnip Green, Platetone Printmaking, Make Nashville, Upper East Side Nashville, The Box, Atomic Nashville, and Southern Grist Brewery. The stumble runs from 7 to 10 p.m.

Tom Waits Tribute and Benefit for Second Harvest
Music and visual arts event “Get Behind The Mule” makes its way to The 5 Spot this Saturday night. The 11th Annual Tom Waits Tribute & Benefit for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle TN will feature the music of Tom Waits’ interpreted by some truly amazing musicians including Ballhog!, Bourbon Jockeys, Caleb Owens, Carpetbaggers 615, The Coal Men, David Olney, Furious Primates, January’s Door, Jhesi & The Silver Moons, Julie Christensen & Your Late Night Evening Prostitutes, Sarah Potenza and Tommy Womack.
All proceeds from the gate and art sale are donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

Uber’s ‘must do’ 5 Points list
Ride-sharing app Uber has your whole day (and night) planned the next time you’re in 5 Points. In its “must do” list, Uber shows some love to local favorites like Marche, Shoppes on Fatherland, Treehouse and a late-night bite at Five Points Pizza.

— Otaku Ramen has popped back up at POP Nashville for a limited time. Otaku Annex will be serving up ramen, beer, wine and cocktails from now until Dec. 23. Little Octopus recently moved out of the pop-up space to head to larger digs in The Gulch (which will open early next year). Otaku Annex is open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 604 Gallatin Ave.
— Cousins Main Lobster food truck will be parked at Little Harpeth Brewery on Friday, Dec. 16 from 4 to 9 p.m. Come on by and chow down.
