This Thursday, The East Nashvillian is once again presenting “A Damn Fine Happy Hour” at The 5 Spot, the second of three writers-in-residence events hosted by Mark Fredson in August. The former front man for indie rockers The Lonely H says he approaches this series of showcases with two goals in mind.
“I'm just now getting my solo thing off the ground,” Fredson says. “So it's really nice to have a way to bring fellow writers and friends together to try out new material. I also want it to be a place for East Nashville writers to come together, swap songs, and get inspired by writers they haven't heard before.”
Joining Fredson on stage for their own minisets this week are Max Putnam, Chad Mason, Clark Paterson, and Caroline Spence. Fredson is planning a different lineup of guests for next Thursday, and hopes to continue the series in October. This Thursday only, Fredson will also be playing a full band set as part of “Broads & Brews: A Comedy and Music Event” at The 5 Spot at 9 p.m.
Both this Thursday's edition of “A Damn Fine Happy Hour” and the finale on Thursday, Aug. 31, will start at 6 p.m. with no cover charge.
